I mean people talk about the "ensh*ttification" of everything and that's genuinely a real phenomenon. The biggest thing that makes thrifted items feel different than new ones is that as recently as twenty years ago consumer goods were just made to much higher quality standards even at a cheap mass-market level, and the further you go back the bigger the difference is
