My parents initially did not want me to listen to Nirvana, because they said their music was dark and could influence my moods. Seeing as how I was 10 years old when Nirvana broke open, I can see their point. I listened to them, anyway, and it did nothing to my mood. I did that all myself, but that's a different story.

My parents always had let me listen to anything i wanted to.

I wear earphones all the time n keep the volume low when im not alone the rare times i dont, thats my way of avoiding their ears hearing anything. They dont rlly care much tho, for the most part, cos i dont play it much around them. I imagine they'd dislike the ones with swearing at least a bit, if they actually listened close and heard the lyrics. My brother once showed my mother the music video of take me to church cos i was listening to it and there were men kissing of whatever🙄 yeahh i keep my music to myself mostly. My mother used to complain when i listened to slow songs cos she assumed they were sad and were making me sad, not rlly the case. They bring me peace a lot. I need that. I'm rambling. The definitive answer is, while im not unallowed to listen to any type of music, it's mainly cos i keep the types they might dislike to myself. If im listening to maybe oldschool music, i let my mother hear, she likes songs from her youth and stuff. Ramble over 🙈
