On February 2, 2008, Canadian real estate agent Lindsay Buziak killed during a property showing at a vacant luxury home in Saanich, British Columbia. An unknown woman with a fake accent phoned Lindsay, claiming she and her husband urgently needed a million-dollar home. The call came from a prepaid phone bought under a fake name, which was deactivated immediately after the murder. Lindsay met the couple at 5:30 PM. Her boyfriend, Jason Zailo, arrived late to check on her. Seeing them through the frosted glass, he waited outside. After receiving no response to his texts, he breached the back door at 6:11 PM and found Lindsay upstairs. She had been stabbed over 40 times in a ambush. The killers fled out the back. The crime scene yielded no DNA or fingerprints. Police believe it was a professional hit. Theories suggest a drug cartel targeted her, wrongly believing she was a police informant after a Calgary drug bust. No arrests have ever been made.
