On March 22, 2011 Rebecca Coriam vanished from the Disney Wonder cruise ship off Mexico's coast. At 5:45 a.m., CCTV captured her last moments using a ship phone while visibly distraught. She later failed to report for her 9 a.m. shift, prompting a search. Disney claimed a “freak rogue wave” knocked her overboard from a 5th floor deck. Her family and experts rejected this, noting the high steel safety walls and calm weather logs. Disney's evidence: a pair of flip-flops belonged to a different crew member, no cameras captured her fall, and activity occurred on her Facebook and credit card after her disappearance. The Royal Bahama Police led a heavily criticized probe, sending one detective for under 24 hours. Crew members reported feeling silenced by executives. In 2016, her parents signed a non-disclosure agreement in an out-of-court settlement with Disney. Rebecca remains legally lost at sea; her fate is unknown.
