Lyrics first… or the beat? Which one hooks you in instantly?

Usually for me, I get hooked by the guitar or bass riff, then I might find myself enjoying the lyrics, but its mostly for the riffs. Heck thats how I fell in love with nearly every song on my spotify playlist.

I would call both equally important to my enjoyment of a song, but the beat hooks me first because it's always the most apparent, especially if the song begins with an instrumental.

Beat/music first, then lyrics. One song best exemplifies my train of thought: "Undertow" by Ivy. Took me a while to get past the first 40 seconds of that song, because it sounded so glorious!

Anything by Ariana Grande ❤️

The music and beat itself, I have a few skills with music one of them is determining the base line for the entire movement by just hearing/feeling the very beginning of the song...

Beat heh. Its what i year first, so if the instrumental is good, im already in it XD but i love an incredible lyric, i just havent been listening to slow songs the way i did before. I need more bouncy ones to get through the daily drag for now
