i'm not sure if it's the correct place to post about this, but i've been finding myself reflecting a lot about my habits and social media consumption as i've grown older. i'm in my mid-twenties now and i've found myself kind of addicted to socials? I grew up in an era where it wasn't a thing, we would go out to the park, play, and have sleepovers at our friends house. Now I feel like I'm so isolated indoors with my phone and content that continues being funneled at me, and it never stops. i think i'm going to try and make a concious effort to limit my social media consumption. maybe this is your sign to do so as well. put your phone down and connect with your friends irl instead
ive tried giving up social media multiples times now and its so hard 😭 im seriously addicted and i hate it. one of the problems for me is that all my friends communicate via instagram 🫤 and i dont have any friends around me because i moved away from everyone. its also difficult as a disabled person since often im unable to get up and move or do activities that require fine motor skills. i love to draw but sometimes i cant hold the pen. i need to spend more time reading or something though instead if just scrolling or playing video games! i used to read instead of use my phone when i was younger 😭
every so often i get a wakening call and realize what i'm doing, but with how fast and convenient social media is, it's hard. i gave up twitter because i didn't have that many friends on it, but instagram we kind of all grew up with and have it to stay in touch. i hope we can both find a balance that keeps us sane and human. sometimes it's okay to de-stress with video games and doom scrolling 💙
through our convo i think i realized that you cant doomscroll on nova, but it's nice to log on once a day to check in to see how things are going with everyone. kind of a familiar face in passing
