The term scientist didn't always exist, before it people used the term 'man of science' since at the time it was believed women aeren't fit for science but later after immense contribution of Mary Somerville it was changed to scientist to be more inclusive

i knew this one! i think about it when people say "woman scientist" or "female scientist" because why arent we just saying scientist when that word was coined to be inclusive to women
