One thing for sure in the animated film of the movie The Grave of the Fireflies is that even in war time. I made a promise to myself I won't abandon those I really care for. Even if we have less of something to eat. Or not as much ration I'm not going do what that aunt did that Seta and his younger sister. If someone did that to me I would have never given them my family item to be traded for food and rations. Or force a younger member to fight in a stupid war.
