Keys Left to Award3What do you think of Wattpad’s decision to move away from 18+ content? Is this censorship?

should say over 18+ or no under 13 age

Wattpad isn't built for kids, you have to be at least 13 just to make an account, if someone started reading something they didn't want to that person has the choice to stop reading. Personally I don't think it's right to stop people from reading what they want to, but i don't know i was on Wattpad when i was like 11 so i barely notice when something is 18+ content.
Ah maybe that's part of why they're doing that, because they don't think that you should be looking at it when you're that young because it exposes them to things that you're too young for

cant say im on wattpad but hearing about it from my friend was kinda crazy. i get the idea theyre largely built on 18+ content and theres now a mass migration to ao3 and its made things bonkers over there since wattpad users dont know how ao3 works 💀?
Yeah the ao3 users are pissed! I would be too 😭

Yes

I think it's wrong ngl. I understand wanting to protect minors, more than anything. Wattpad exposed me to wayyyy too much stuff when i was young, too. But it's one thing to block off access of younger people to that sort of thing, and another to entirely wipe off the work people have done. I dont know the extent of it, nor do i know exactly how bad it's gonna get, but i find it... Weird and controlling. Wattpad has always had a bit of everything. It was my first fanfic site. The addition of ads too, the app rlly is just ruined. I barely read books there anymore. Things always change but it's been on the downwards curve for a very long time. Nothing anyone can really do but watch it burn. Either make a Wattpad kids version if you're so inclined or leave authors' work be. They've put in a lot. My writing is fairly tame, I'd say, but I'm genuinely curious about what might become of my books with very, very slight spice if the censorship gets to an extreme point. We'll see, ig 🙈
I 100% agree with you, there should be some barrier to minors but also taking down books from authors who have written there and done so well? It's lowkey like Tumblr but Tumblr was lowkey crazy compared to Wattpad. I hope they can find a good ba...
I had way more of an opinion than i expected

seems like it. not a good look :/

Yes, if minor have access to the internet in their own home. And they decided to join some social media then they need to change certain things. They have to move away with 18+ content. Or make something that block access to minor.
I do think they should put up that barrier, but it's weird how they didn't do an age restriction or anything like that from what I saw. Just straight to 13+ only
